Chapeltown Neighbourhood Priorities Statement
The Chapeltown Neighbourhood Forum was formally established in October 2021 to give local residents, businesses and organisations a stronger voice in shaping the future of the area. The Forum brings together people who live, work and operate in Chapeltown so they can share ideas, raise concerns and influence local decision-making.
Through the Forum, the community can engage with Leeds City Council, local representatives and other public bodies to ensure that local priorities are heard. The Forum aims to support positive development, protect the character of the neighbourhood and help improve the quality of life for everyone who lives and works in Chapeltown.

Neighbourhood Planning
Neighbourhood planning allows local communities to play an active role in shaping development in their area. As part of this process, the Chapeltown Neighbourhood Forum has been working with residents and stakeholders to prepare a Neighbourhood Priorities Statement (NPS).
The NPS outlines the key issues, opportunities and aspirations identified through community meetings and consultations. It reflects the shared vision of local people and highlights priorities for the future of Chapeltown.
This statement is an important first step towards the potential development of a full Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP), which would provide a more detailed framework for guiding future development in the area. Both the NPS and any future neighbourhood plan are supported by the UK Government and Leeds City Council.
